The COBRA-2 SYSTEM is designed to provide high-quality sound reinforcement for events in small to medium-sized marquees or halls covering distances up to 40 metres and areas in the region of 1,000 square metres.The COBRA-2 SYSTEM produces a maximum SPL of 137 dB L +137 dB R in the medium-and high frequency ranges and up to 141 dB in the bass. In its basic configuration, the COBRA-2 SYSTEM consists of four COBRA TOP midrange/high-frequency enclosures, four COBRA SUB subwoofers, a ready cabled and programmed 12 U amp rack,the CSR-12, as well as the necessary 4-core loudspeaker cables and a 2.5� wedge set (comprising a pair of wedges that can be placed at the front or back of the cabinets) to aim the COBRA TOPs at the listening area.The coverage pattern of the COBRA-2 SYSTEM is 120� in the horizontal plane and 15� in the vertical. Up to six COBRA TOPs and six COBRA SUBs can be driven by the CSR-12 AMP RACK without difficulty. To allow for expansion of the system, the CSR-12 has room for an additional 3U power amplifier (sub extension,separate front-/side-fill or monitor), which gets its current from the CP-44 connector panel.The largest sensible configuration of the COBRA-2 SYSTEM consists of one COBRA-2 array per side (four TOPs and 4-6 SUBs per side). For especially powerful and penetrating bass reproduction, suitable for a wide range of types of music and venue, COBRA PWH bass horns can be integrated into the COBRA-2 SYSTEM. Since doubling the number of COBRA TOP enclosures halves their vertical radiation angle, special attention must be paid to the way they are aligned � regardless of whether they are flown or stacked.A COBRA TOP has a coverage pattern of 120� x 30� (horizontal and vertical). Two COBRA TOPs stacked directly on top of one another have a coverage pattern of 120� x 15� and four stacked cabinets, 120� x 7.5�.With a ground stack, it is easy to aim the TOP cabinets at the listening area by placing CSW-25 2.5� wedges between the SUBs or the PWHs. DYNACORD�s COBRA-SUB is a vented direct radiating cabinet, equipped with the high-power Electro-Voice EVX 180B 18 transducer. Frequency response is 38Hz - 170Hz (-10dB), so the crossover frequency to Mid-Hi cabinets, e.g. DYNACORD�s COBRA-TOP can be chosen strictly application-oriented between 80Hz and 160Hz. The cabinet is equipped with an electronic circuit called VOICE COIL TRACKING PROTECTION. This circuit senses the terminal voltage of the transducer and simulates the thermal behaviour of the woofer�s voice coil. In case of potential thermal overload the power applied to the speaker is reduced to a safe level. Power amps up to 1200W/8Ohms can be used in order to have maximum dynamic range without the danger of thermal overload in non-controlled situations. The VOICE COIL TRACKING PROTECTION exhibits �soft� switching characteristics, so no annoying clicks or pops are audible. The circuitry automatically resets after the voice coil temperature has reached a safe value. The COBRA-SUB cabinet is made of 18mm birch plywood. All corner joints and braces are grooved and glued. The cabinet�s surface is coated with an extremely durable Polyurethane which exceeds the quality of a standard lacquer finish by an order of magnitude. A powder coated steel grille and a lockable cover protects the COBRA-SUB against damage during transport and bad environmental conditions. The connector panel uses two 4-pole Speakon connectors (IN/OUT) for a safe connection and easy daisy-chaining to other cabinets. The pin assignment is 1+/1-. Pins 2+ and 2- are also connected between the two Speakon connectors. When using DYNACORD power amp racks, the whole system can be wired with 4-pole Speakon cables without any danger of accidental wiring mistakes. Four recessed rigging tracks and two webbing-strap points can be used for easy �flying� of the COBRA-SUBs. The cabinet is equipped with four large ABS feet that allow easy stacking and a �snap-on flying� even in angled positions. Two handles and four heavy-duty castors on the rear side guarantee easy and safe transport. DYNACORD�s COBRA-TOP is a 3-Way cabinet for use in compact line arrays and other demanding applications where wide horizontal coverage, extremely low distortion and a low sensitivity against acoustic feedback are mandatory. The mid-range of the COBRA-TOP uses selected DYNACORD C8 cone transducers in a line array configuration. The C8 transducers show significantly lower distortion than typical horn/compression driver combinations. Therefore an extremely natural sound quality over large distances can be achieved. For the high frequencies of the COBRA-TOP an Electro-Voice DH2T titanium diaphragm driver and a HPT94 constant directivity horn are used in order to prevent any set-up and adjustment problems for the main direction and the near field. The DYNACORD COBRA-TOP uses a dual vented direct-radiator design equipped with an Electro-Voice EVX 155 for the low frequencies. For Near-Fill and Side-Fill applications and for the reinforcement of speech the COBRA-TOP cabinets can be used fullrange without any problems. The cabinet is equipped with an electronic circuit called VOICE COIL TRACKING PROTECTION. In case of potential thermal overload the power applied to the speakers is reduced to a safe level. The pre-wired 12U racks for Cobra-2 and Cobra-4 systems integrate DSP controller, amplifiers, NF panel and a 32A mains connector on the rear AC panel.These 4-channel system racks are suitable for 2-way stereo (Sub � Top) and 4-way mono applications (Sub � Low � Mid � High) . 4-way stereo systems such as Cobra-4 require retrofitting an additional DSP controller and two amplifiers for the blank panels, or the use of two pre-wired racks.
