Recently, Ashly Audio upgraded its line of graphicequalizers. The new GQX models are significantly quieterthan their predecessors. Double-sided circuit boards with groundplane design are used in the filter sections for improved RFI andelectrostatic immunity. Precision Wein-Bridge filters and newlydesigned summing amplifiers combine to provide extremely accurateresponse, low noise, negligible distortion, and complete immunityto magnetic fields. All filters exhibit true constantQ response with no broadening near theflat setting. High slew-rate circuitry throughout thesignal path results in clean, quiet, transparent sound. Thefaders used are a custom-manufactured metal-shaft type, withmolded saddle knobs, for the ultimate in reliability and smoothfeel. Ashly's unique T-Beam front panelconstruction eliminates interconnections between the faders andthe filters, resulting in a very rugged and rigid front panel. Input and output connections now include barrier stripterminals and 1/4 TRS phone jacks, as well as standardlocking XLR's. Circuit ground may be lifted from chassis groundvia the barrier strip. Ashly's new servo-balanced outputcircuitry maintains unity gain even if pins 2 or 3 get connecteddirectly to ground. New transformer and power supply layouts result in lower humnoise and even greater line voltage range. In fact, these unitsstill meet specifications when voltage drops down to as low as 93VAC, making them the ideal choice when power stability presents aproblem to the installer. The GQX-Series is available in three different configurations:the GQX-1502 features two channels of fifteen-band 2/3 octaveequalization and a switchable high-pass filter. The GQX-3101 is asingle-channel thirty-one band model, while the GQX-3102 featurestwo channels of 1/3 octave EQ. Both the third-octave models offertunable high-pass filter circuits and 10-segment, two color LEDmeter displays, referencing 0 VU to +4dBu. Each model in theGQX-Series features switch-selectable cut or boost of either 6dBor 15dB, and carry the same Five Year Worry-Free Warranty offeredon all commercial sound products from Ashly.
